IndyCar Star Returns to Site of Previous Success
Jeff Simmons, whose IndyCar drive at Rahal/Letterman Racing came to an abrupt end eight months ago, returns to Indy Lights competition for the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Saturday and Sunday (April 5th and 6th).
Simmons was a star-in-the-making when he was drafted from the developmental league in 2006 to take the seat in the Ethanol car after the untimely death of Paul Dana at Homestead in that year.
IndyProRacer.com: Consistency and Quickness Key to Jeff Simmons’ Success in Indy Lights Return
Simmons was runner-up in the Indy Lights series in 2003 and in 2005, and looked one of the 2006 favorites to win it all before he moved up in class to RLR’s IndyCar effort.
With eleven top-ten’s and nearly two million dollars in winnings Simmons has a proven record to build towards a return to the IndyCar Series if he can show well and finish up front at St. Pete.
