Jeff Simmons will join AJ Foyt Racing for this month's Indianapolis 500.
The 32-year-old, who contested part IndyCar seasons with Rahal Letterman Racing in 2006 and 2007, will join Briton Darren Manning at the team for the series' headline event next weekend.
Simmons is hoping for another strong showing this year after finishing 11th in last year's Indy 500 for RLR.
"It's great to be back with AJ's team," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with him, Darren, and the whole team. Darren can help to get me up to speed quickly and hopefully I can contribute something to the team as we get ready for qualifying.
"AJ has taken it on himself to put me in the car so I just want to do the best job I can for his team."
Foyt added: "I'm glad to be working with Jeff again. I like the way he drives and the way he hustles the car pretty hard which is what I look for in drivers."
